Some know her as Dawn Miller, others as Mama Dawn. Either way, she is the friendly face who has been working at Pump & Pantry for 31 ½ years. She is currently at Store #1, but has also worked at #10 and #12, when it was on South Locust.
Dawn's favorite memory was the first time she closed the store working at store #10.
"I walked to the safe and saw this black car parked by the front window. It kind of creeped me out. The phone rang, I answered, it was Fred Sr. making sure everything was ok. I had left the inside lights on after I locked the doors and it showed me they were concerned," said Dawn.
Dawn has loved getting to meet people on a daily basis throughout her many years at Pump & Pantry. She said she enjoys knowing the customers by their first name.
"I have made a lot of friends throughout the years. I have learned a lot about customer service. My coworkers are calling me Mama Dawn and some of the customers have heard them and they call me that," said Dawn.
She recommends that her fellow employees enjoy themselves at work and not be afraid to make goals for themselves.
Outside of Pump & Pantry, Dawn has been married for 35 years and has three children, seven grandchildren, and one great grandson. She enjoys crocheting and making rubber band bracelets. She also collects antique dishes and glassware. Dawn and her granddaughter like to go garage sale-ing together.
